    One Nation One Subscription (ONOS)

    We are happy to share that National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD), an autonomous body under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India  has successfully joined One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) an INFLIBNET initiative; this strategic move will enhance access to a wide range of national and international e-resources.

    About One Nation One Subscription (ONOS)

    The Prime Minister of India in his address to the Nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on 15th August, 2022, had pointed out the importance of Research and Development in our country in the Amrit Kaal. He had given the clarion call of “Jai Anusandhan” on the occasion. The National Education Policy, 2020 (NEP 2020) has also identified research as a corequisite for outstanding education and development in our country. In response to the vision of making India Atmanirbhar and Viksitbharat@2047. The Government of India approved One Nation One Subscription scheme to provide country-wide access to international high impact scholarly research articles and journal publications to students, faculty and researchers of all Higher Education Institutions managed by the central government and state governments and Research & Development Institutions of the central government. From 1st January 2025, ONOS phase-I has been approved for the calendar years 2025, 2026 and 2027. Access to journals is being provided through national subscription coordinated by the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre.

    The One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative provides access to over 13,000 journals from 30 major international publishers.

    Information and Documentation Center

    Information & Documentation center of NIEPMD established in the year 2005 with the aim of providing information dissemination service, Information Technology & Media service, Documentation services to the staff, HRD Students, organization, Community & Government functionaries, Rehabilitation Professionals, Persons with Disabilities (Divyangian) and their parents through acquisition, Publications and Research & Development. It plays an important role in satisfying the academic & research mission of NIEPMD and facilitate the creation and dissemination of knowledge. It includes three sections Library, Documentation center and Information Technology & Media center.

    Objectives:

    1. To establish and Implement Library and information policies and procedures
    2. To analyze and evaluate information services, technology and media service requirement for the Information and Documentation center
    3. Acquisition of Information resource for the library users
    4. Arrange, organize and preserve the information for academic and research need
    5. Documentation & dissemination of information to individuals and organization working in the area of Multiple Disabilities

    Library provides various services for its members such as:

    Documentation Center

    Documentation center enable the users by providing current and past activities of NIEPMD and disability related information to its beneficiaries. This center also preparing of Annual Report, Monthly Report, Daily Report and ministry related reports.

    Information Technology & Media section:

    Information Technology & Media section creating awareness about the disability schemes and program of NIEPMD to the general public through print, electronic, Social Media by inviting of press officials for coverage of all programs organized by NIEPMD. This unit also have computer Lab with internet facilities for the use of staff and students to access the digital learning resources like e-Journals and e-books. Under dissemination by information, this unit put up stall at the exhibitions organized by government & NGOs. NIEPMD Website is designed and managed by the Information Document Centre. The awareness posters, Videos, Government orders, SOPs, etc has been uploaded on the webpage and also circulated via social Media.
